Jane Addams and their UK university partners are entries into substantial markets for online delivery of higher education to growing under-served international student markets. The Jane Addams Partnership in Education program has every reason to expect significant penetration into the under-served international postgraduate student markets, which now includes EU students.
Implementation of the Partnership in Education program takes place in two phases. The first phase involves establishing partnerships with resident UK universities. The resident universities provide existing curriculum, distance, online, and face-to-face, qualified instructional staff, infrastructure, support for online education, established reputations, and access to international student markets. Jane Addams provides those students who have applied for admission to a UK university and been turned away for lack of space the opportunity to complete their degree through distance and online learning at that UK university. Additionally, Jane Addams offers an innovative compensation structure from international student tuition fees that creates significant new and ongoing revenue streams to participating UK universities and their educators.
The second phase opens enrolment to international students who have already applied to the resident UK university but were denied access for lack of space and due to government restrictions on international student enrollments. The strategic advantages in partnering with Jane Addams in this effort are that these partnerships allow for the inclusion of additional international students and for a shared revenue structure from overseas tuition fees that significantly benefit UK partner universities. UK university enrolment of international students, now including EU students, brings in the highest tuition fee revenues. Innovation through partnership allows for dynamic growth in revenue to the UK universities and the enhancement of its online and distance learning postgraduate degree programs.
Partnerships with resident UK universities are an essential component of Jane Addams’ strategic plan. Resident university partners bring established reputations, expertise in focus areas of higher education, qualified instructional staffs, online technologies, access to established student markets, and resources that include well-developed curriculum. Jane Addams offers residential university partners access to significant new and ongoing revenue streams as well as enhanced and newly built postgraduate degree programs (Appendix D).
At the same time, international students who were not offered a place will have the opportunity to complete a master’s degree through distance or online learning from the UK university partner they have already applied to. Jane Addams innovative structure provides their UK university partners with unparalleled access to the vast and growing international markets of under-served higher education students. These are lost enrolment opportunities otherwise. Participating distance learning, online, and summer term educators may be contracted at premium rates for teaching in chosen program offerings for the additional international student enrollments (Appendix E).
